Rachel and Anita will be hosting a “Chapter Building and Retention” Workshop in Boston, MA at the 2008 Spring North East Regional Convention.
Come join us during the first Workshop Block on Saturday April 12th, 2008.
Have you seen or been apart of chapters that are thriving one semester and then almost non existent the next? Healthy chapters are the foundation to growing and strengthening SDS for the long term. Let’s come together and talk about what has worked for us, what we are struggling with and how we can help one another. We will address topics such as keys to building a local chapter, how to make meetings enjoyable and effective, and keeping members involved, empowered and excited.

Workshop#2: It was FANTASTIC!
Our second workshop on “Chapter Building and Retention” was fantastic. We had fruitful discussion about what we’ve each experienced in our chapters that were both successful and challenging. We all walked away with new ideas to bring to our chapters to make SDS even stronger.
We would love to bring this workshop to individuals chapters around NYC to foster a dialog with and between chapter members on specific challenges that your chapter experiences. If you are interested please contact us and we will set up a time.

Since the first workshop was such a success we will be continuing our monthly workshops on various topics to help grow and build our movement and strengthen SDS. Workshop #1: Organizing 101
Hey Ya’ll,
We are thrilled to announce our first Workshop. This first training is meant for SDS members who are a part of active chapters or who are struggling to build up membership at their local high school or college campus and would like to have a conversation and learn some skills around some basic organizing strategies and techniques.
Some things we will be covering:
* Intro to activism/organizing/SDS (whats this all about anyway?)
* Campaign organizing 101 (thinking through a strategy to win!)
* Building and retaining chapter membership

Workshop #1 was a Success!
Our first workshop “Strategy Training: Campaigns and Messaging” was a success. We had members of SDS chapters come as far as two hours away to participate. We learned a lot from those who came and the feedback was constructive and positive! We are excited to continue these monthly workshops and we hope to see all of you come out and get involved.
